The Fix Editor Natalie Jennings penned the piece.
“This year has been epic for political news, and many of its biggest story lines — the coronavirus, racial injustice and the 2020 campaign — have played out in states at least as much as they have in Washington,” she wrote. “With that in mind, The Fix has revived an old tradition and compiled its 2020 list of reporters to follow in each state and D.C.”
Jennings quoted Washington Post columnist and author Margaret Sullivan, saying, “With so many local and regional news organizations struggling right now — some for their very survival — their reporters are working harder than ever to find the time and resources to do the job that we need them to do. And that is to hold public officials to account on behalf of citizens.”
