Capitol Broadcasting recently announced CBC New Media Director of Sales and Operations Chris Weatherly has been promoted to General Manager of WRAL Digital Solutions. The title change came on the heels of the promotion of John Conway to Vice President of WRAL Digital and the rebranding of the CBC New Media division to WRAL Digital earlier this year.
“The title change reflects Chris’ professional growth and the expansion of our digital sales and marketing capacity over the past several years,” said Conway. “Through his vision and leadership, he has built a modern digital agency that delivers exceptional products, services and results for more than 400 local and regional clients.”
Weatherly joined the CBC team in 2012 as a TV and digital account executive and quickly advanced through a number of digital sales roles with CBC New Media. In 2014, he was named Digital Sales Manager for WRAL.com, overseeing local and programmatic sales and ad operations. In 2016, Weatherly was promoted to Director of Digital Sales and Operations for CBC New Media.
“Chris is passionate about collaboration, culture and team building,” said Conway. “His team created the WRAL Digital Solutions brand, which sits at the intersection of media, marketing and technology. He and his team are now offering premium services while growing the average spend per client. One of the most successful new products Chris has launched and grown during his tenure is our sponsored content offering, known as Spotlight.”
Weatherly now oversees a team of more than 20 people across a wide range of roles, including direct and programmatic sales, social media strategy, project management, web development, SEO, ad operations and design and creative services.
