99.9 The Fan celebrates its decade in the Triangle with prizes for listeners all-day long!
99.9 The Fan/WCMC-FM turns 10 years old today, and to celebrate this momentous event will give away prizes all day long to its valued listeners. The station will also celebrate by playing congratulatory messages from some of the bigger names in Triangle sports and around North Carolina.
WCMC-FM The Fan signed on as the market’s first all sports-formatted FM radio station on October 10, 2007. During the past ten years the audience levels of The Fan have risen to an all-time high. According to the latest Nielsen ratings released October 5th for Raleigh-Durham, 99.9 The Fan ranks number one Men 25-54 6a-7p/9.5 share, along with hosting the number one shows in morning and afternoon drive. In 2016, The Fan was recognized as one of the Best Sports Talk Stations in the country by the National Association of Broadcasters. In 2015, The Fan was named “Station of The Year” by the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters.
Dennis Glasgow, Capitol Broadcasting Sports Radio Operations Manager/Program Director says, “While I’ve only been here four years at CBC, I can say this is one of the most dynamic and forward-thinking sports radio stations I have ever been associated with over my 25 years in sports broadcasting. While this isn’t one of the first sports stations in the country, we’ve proved it is definitely one of the best, thanks to a great lineup, but mostly in part to our loyal listeners in the Triangle.”
WCMC-FM is currently the flagship radio station for the Carolina Hurricanes and the Carolina Panthers, with ESPN being its primary network programming partner.
99.9 The Fan is part of a very extensive and impressive list of audio platforms for Capitol Broadcasting in the Raleigh-Durham market. This includes Buzz Sports Radio (WDNC-AM), 95.7 The Ticket (WCLY) along with live video streaming of local programs on WRALSportsFan.com, the WRALsportsfan App, Roku, Amazon Firestick and AppleTV on the WRAL-TV 5 #OTT App.
