Goodmons Honored by Triangle Business Journal for Family-Owned Capitol Broadcasting

Earlier this fall the Triangle Business Journal released its list of winners for the publication’s first Family Business Awards.  Capitol Broadcasting Company was among the 19 honorees and recently receive the award at an evening celebration on Thursday, December 1, 2016, at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary.

The TBJ’s inaugural Family Business Awards honor “family-owned as well as closely held businesses in the Triangle for overall excellence, innovation, ethics, philanthropy and contribution to the strength of the region.”

TBJ created the awards “to showcase the entrepreneurial spirit and dynamic vitality of the family businesses sector – one that employees thousands of people in this area.”

CBC New Media Vice President & General Manager Jimmy Goodmon accepted on behalf of his family.  In his remarks, Goodmon praised his father, CBC President & CEO Jim Goodmon.

CBC NMG’s Jimmy Goodmon praises his father, Jim Goodmon, for continuing to build the company his grandfather, A.J. Fletcher, started back in the 1930’s.

“He has done an incredible job building what is now Capitol Broadcasting Company,” said the younger Goodmon.”

And he had kind words for the other honorees, saying, “We wish you both longevity and prosperity.”
