WRAL-TV’s Brad Simmons (left) & Jeff Gravley work hard to bring Triangle viewers coverage of the Track & Field games in Rio.
The Super Six in Rio are delivering a staggering number of stories, interviews and inside looks at the Summer Olympics to Triangle viewers. WRAL-TV’s very own Renee Chou, Debra Morgan, Jeff Gravley, Ed Wilson, Keith Baker and Brad Simmons have been sharing their journey, and kindly allowing Capcom to in turn share their great social media posts and photos.
WRAL-TV Vice President & General Manager Steve Hammel arrived in Rio in time to see Kerri Walsh-Jennings and Amber Ross battle and win bronze in U.S. women’s beach volleyball. He’s now taking in the sites and getting to witness the great work of our WRAL crew in Rio in person.
“So proud of WRAL’s Team Rio,” said Hammel. “They are doing a terrific job.”
Thanks to WRAL-TV’s Renee Chou, Debra Morgan, Ed Wilson, Jeff Gravley & Steve Hammel for these capcom photos.

From WRAL-TV's Ed Wilson: This Is Helga. The nicest person I've met in Rio. She make sure I'm on the right bus. She always have a smile on her face.

From WRAL-TV's Renee Chou: Photographer Ed Wilson and I are taking over the set of "Primetime with Bob Costas!" This really is the most gorgeous television set I have ever seen.

From WRAL-TV's Renee Chou: Stellar Simone!!!! Swimmer Simone Manuel leaves Rio with 2 golds, 2 silvers, & the distinction of being the first African-American female swimmer to win an individual Olympic gold. Classy, confident, and radiant! She brought all 4 medals to the interview and put them on a table. I asked if she wanted to wear them for the interview. Simone told me that she'd been wearing all four of them so much, and because each medal is so heavy, it made her neck sore! So one medal it was for the pic.

From WRAL-TV's Renee Chou: Hard at work in Olympic Park and these Brazilians asked if they could take a selfie with photographer Ed Wilson and me. Sure, why not? They seem pretty excited to take a picture with random strangers.

From WRAL-TV's Renee Chou: Such personality and spunk! Loved meeting one-fifth of the Final Five, the sweet and sassy Laurie Hernandez! She is as charismatic in person as she is for the cameras. My chat with the gymnast known as the "human emoji" on WRAL's Morning News on Wednesday at 6!

From WRAL-TV's Renee Chou: It's been work, work, work for me in Rio! While there've been fun moments, I made time to enjoy the final women's gymnastics event IN PERSON. I was sitting in the nosebleed section for the media. But I was still able to see Simone Biles and Aly Raisman nail their floor routines, winning gold and silver! The medal ceremony was moving, and I had chills hearing the Star-Spangled Banner play through the arena, as our country's flag was raised. So proud of Team USA and so grateful for this memorable experience.

From WRAL-TV's Renee Chou: Selfie in the morning sun. Day 19 of our Olympic journey in Rio. 4 more days of live reports to go. Not that I'm counting or anything.

From WRAL-TV's Renee Chou: Made it out to the track stadium! Talked with Team USA's Paul Chelimo after he won his heat in the 5000m to advance to Saturday's finals. He's the first UNC-Greensboro alum to ever compete in the Olympics! He's also a US Army water treatment specialist who now calls Oregon home. Watching him basically sprint 3.1 miles like it was no big deal -- was amazing!
