Capitol Broadcasting owns a 140-year-old textile mill in rural Rocky Mount, and the transformation is taking shape. Rocky Mount Brewmill is becoming an incubator for startup craft breweries, a contract production facility for growing breweries and destination for lovers or craft beer, a school for those who wish to study the industry and a residential community for people who work on the campus. Now the first brewery is about to open.
Rocky Mount Telegram Staff Writer Corey Davis penned an article about the debut. Entitled ‘First tenant to open in Rocky Mount Brewmill’ the piece appeared in the Tuesday, December 29, 2015, edition of the publication.
The wait is almost over for local craft beer lovers. Koi Pond Brewing Co., Rocky Mount’s first craft brewery, is set to open at noon Sunday. Koi Pond Brewing, located at 1107 Falls Road, will be the Rocky Mount Brewmill’s first tenant starting business.
The stand-alone brewery and taproom is inside one of the oldest homes in the Mill Village that was built in 1835 at the former Rocky Mount Mills site.
