The weather over the past week, and the week ahead, is basically only fit for ducks. That’s not a problem at American Tobacco! Hundreds of ducks are getting ready to take over the Ol’ Bull River. Rubber ducks, that is. The annual FOX 50 Family Fest featuring the Great American Tobacco Duck Race takes places from noon to 5pm this Saturday, October 3, 2015.
This year the Duck Race benefits the Ronald McDonald Houses in Durham and Raleigh. With the purchase of a $10 duck, you sponsor a night’s stay for a family with a seriously ill child staying at Ronald McDonald Houses in Durham & Raleigh. Plus, top finishers will win amazing prizes!
About the Ronald McDonald Houses
Since 1980, the Ronald McDonald House of Durham has offered a comforting home away from home and a community of support for seriously ill children and their families. Programs provide families with the comforts of home –private bedrooms, inviting community spaces, home-cooked meals and a stocked kitchen, a playroom, computer room and laundry facilities – as well as a network of support through interactions with other families, staff and volunteers.
In addition to the House, the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms provide respite care for families within Duke (Durham) and WakeMed (Raleigh) Children’s Hospitals – just steps away from the pediatric intensive care units. The Family Rooms serve more than 30,000 parents of critically-ill children each year.
