District 37 Toastmasters of North Carolina recently honored WRAL-TV Anchor David Crabtree for “his achievement in the field of communication.” Crabtree received the organization’s 2015 Communication and Leadership Award at a luncheon during the District 37 Toastmasters’ Spring Conference on Saturday, May 2nd at the Sheraton in Chapel Hill.
When informed he would be receiving the honor, Crabtree said, “Remember we are servants to our viewers. Absolute servants. Without them we don’t exist. So every day, I know it sounds so trite to some people, but it’s so true – giving them a reason to have hope, expose something, teach them something and remember that every day we do this, it’s a gift to us and such a privilege.”
The award is presented to a non-Toastmasters member each year.
“We felt that David’s outstanding contributions to the Triangle over 20 years as a news anchor at WRAL, delivering news from around the world and serving the citizens of our community and state with integrity and class made him deserving of this prestigious award,” says Johnny Piercy, District Governor for Toastmasters District 37.
Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that teaches communication and leadership skills through a worldwide network of more than 14,650 clubs in 126 countries. In North Carolina there are 206 Toastmasters clubs.
