American Tobacco Documentary Wins Award at Inaugural Long Leaf Film Festival

ATC Documentary Film Award

The American Tobacco documentary ‘Because No One Else Would’ won Best Documentary Short (Historical) at the inaugural Long Leaf Film Festival on May 2, 2015.

American Tobacco now has a film award to add to its collection of accolades.  “Because No One Else Would,” a documentary about the campus’ history and recent renaissance released last December, won Best Documentary Short (Historical) at the inaugural Long Leaf Film Festival this past weekend.  Awards were announced at the end of two-day film screenings at the NC Museum of History on Saturday, May 2, 2015.

Hal Goodtree and Horizon Productions produced the half-hour film chronicling the history of the property and how it came back to life during the last decade.

The film festival dovetailed with the museum’s Starring North Carolina exhibit featuring NC’s 100-year history in the film industry.  The festival highlighted films from around the world but focused on films with connections to the state.
