|North Carolina News Network Wins RTNDA Spot News Award|
The Radio-Televison News Directors Association (RTNDA) will award the North Carolina News Network with the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for excellence in electronic journalism. The awards presentation will be made at the RTNDA International Conference in New Orleans in September.
The North Carolina News Network won the award in the Spot News Category for their coverage of Hurricane Fran. NCNN covered the storm with a commitment to the people of North Carolina, providing essential information to the public.
NCNN Managing Editor, Clayton Henkel states, “It’s a real honor for the North Carolina News Network to win this award. When Hurricane Fran hit, the news crew set aside personal concerns about damage to their own property and rose to the occasion. Our goal was to provide listeners with timely information they would need to survive one of the worst natural disasters to ever hit this state.”
The North Carolina News Network broadcasts a wide array of news and information to more than 90 radio affiliates with listeners in North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
