FOX 50 launched a daylong festival for families in 2009 at the American Tobacco Campus. The event included face painting, live music, family-friendly activities in more. In 2010, the growing FOX 50 Family Fest joined forces with the Great American Tobacco Duck Race which had been taking place on the Durham campus since 2006. The Duck Race raises funds for three area non-profits each year, based on the sales of rubber ducks for the race down the Ol’ Bull River.
Held each October, FOX 50’s Family Fest is free and open to the public. The exciting family-friendly day features interactive activities focusing on family health & safety, nutrition, education, community awareness and most importantly…family fun.
In 2013, the FOX 50 Family Fest expanded to two days, Saturday at Pullen Park in Raleigh and Sunday in American Tobacco in Durham. The event drew the largest crowd yet.
