The Puck Stops Here

99.9 The Fan and Buzz Sports Radio’s 2nd Annual The Puck Stops Here Hockey Video Game Tournament took place at The Arena Club at PNC Arena on Monday night, September 26, 2016.

99.9 The Fan and Buzz Sports Radio hosted the second annual The Puck Stops Here Hockey Video Game Tournament powered by the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday night, September 26, 2016. The stations ran a 3-week promotion contest on “The Sports Shop” and “Adam and Joe” to get 32 qualifiers to compete in NHL 94 on Sega Genesis (that’s right, old school).

The tournament took place in The Arena Club at PNC Arena.

The CBC Sports Radio stations also featured the brand new NHL 17 game that people could try out. Former Hurricanes Shane Willis and Bates Battaglia were attendance hanging out with the players and cheering them on, as well as UNC basketball legend Phil Ford.

The first place winner took home Hurricanes season tickets, a personalized Hurricanes Jersey, and a copy of NHL 17. 2nd and 3rd place also received ticket packages and NHL 17, while 4th place took home a copy of NHL 17.

Throughout the night 99.9 The Fan and Buzz Sports Radio gave away raffle prizes while guests enjoyed food and drinks provided by the Arena Club.

99.9 The Fan Sports Talk Host Joe Ovies hosted the event and The Sports Shop provided play by play and commentary throughout the evening. The stations are already looking forward to next year’s event.

Thanks to 99.9 The Fan’s Tara Pupilli for this capcom story & for these capcom photos.
