WRAL-HDTV ANNOUNCES PRESENCE ON WORLD WIDE WEB

RALEIGH, NC, APRIL 4, 1997 — WRAL-HD, the first commercial television station to broadcast the HDTV signal, is launching a site on the World Wide Web.

The Internet address is http://www.wral-hd.com.

The new site presents the HDTV technology in a non-technical format and provides an in-depth look at the WRAL-HD station and our award winning efforts to broadcast the new HDTV digital signal.

“HDTV is the wave of the future and this is the first site to promote this new technology from the television viewing audience’s perspective,” stated Jim Goodmon, President and CEO of Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. “We’ve made a lot of progress with the broadcasting industry and both television equipment and hardware manufacturers, but now it is time to educate the television viewing audience on what it all means to them. By starting this process now, consumers will be ready to make the change when the time comes to convert to the HDTV signal.”
