Yvonne Simons Wins National Fellowship in Education Reporting


WRAL-TV Education reporter Yvonne Simons has become the first commercial television reporter in the nation to be selected for the National Fellowship in Education Reporting. Simons is one of six reporters selected for the 1997 fellowships, which are awarded annually by the Education Writers Association.

During her fellowship, Yvonne will study accountability in North Carolina public schools. Yvonne will examine the impact of sweeping new legislation designed to improve overall performance in the state’s schools. She will produce a series of special reports for WRAL-TV, and will later present her findings at the EWA national seminar in April, 1998
